Genovation Cars, the company that built the all-electric, 800-hp Genovation Extreme Electric, or GXE for short, is bringing the car to a U.S. auto show for the very first time. It will be on-stand later this week at the L.A. Auto Show.
The GXE is an all-electric supercar that boasts a pair of electric motors that churn out more than 800 hp and 700 lb-ft of torque. The Chevrolet-Corvette-based sports car is the first street-legal EV to hit 209 mph, and has a Guinness World Record for the standing mile at 190.48 mph.
“We’re excited to continue the momentum we’ve established with our participation at the 2018 Los Angeles Auto Show,” said Andrew Saul, CEO of Genovation Cars, Inc. “The GXE has received a very positive response wherever we’ve shown the car and we expect that momentum to continue with our debut in LA. As one of the premier shows in the world, we anticipate our GXE will impress the audience of car enthusiasts coming from a truly international audience.” After years of development, the car made its first appearance in its final form at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas earlier this year.
Using the Corvette as a starting point means a low center of gravity. Clever positioning of the electric components and battery pack gives it near 50/50 weight distribution. Aside from the obvious V8 for electric motor swap, the GXE has received a facelift that gives it a more aggressive look. That’s complete with a modified aerodynamics package that adds a massive front splitter, wide side skirts, and an enormous rear wing. On the inside, Genovation has gone through the interior with upgraded materials and a JBL audio system.
The company says that they expect the car to hit a top speed of 220 mph, and deliver more than 175 miles of range per charge. Though probably not both at the same time.
Genovation is planning a production run of cars, limited to 75. Initial deliveries are expected to start next year.
