Jaguar has revealed the bold interior of the new Type 01 electric GT ahead of the car's full unveiling in October.

The new four-seater will kick-start the British brand's reinvention as an all-electric luxury marque. But while prototypes of the Type 01 have been seen testing extensively - and been driven by Autocar - this is the first time Jaguar has shown any of the car without camouflage.

The interior takes clear inspiration from that of the controversial Type 00 concept and the firm calls it "a concept car vision brought to production".

The most notable feature of the design is a large 'central spine' - termed a "signature art piece" by Jaguar - that runs the entire length of the cabin between both the front and rear seats.

The spine divides the interior into four sections, each with its own individual seat. One of the images also confirms that the Type 01 has a low, swooping ceiling that features panoramic glass.

The driving position appears to be low-set and the dashboard is notably clear of instrumentation. There is a large digital information display screen in front of the driver, but only a small touchscreen console for heating and infotainment controls rising from the central spine. Jaguar refers to this as "hidden on-demand technology", which, it claims, has been integrated directly into the car's architecture.

There is also a distinct division between the driver and front passenger sections in the design of the dashboard.

An overhead image shows that the 'strikethrough' motifs on the dashboard also appear on the top lip of the bonnet in an attempt to fuse the interior and exterior design.

Another notable feature is that the car lacks a traditional rear-view mirror - the images also confirm that, like the Polestar 4, the Type 01 will not have a rear window - but instead has a digital rear-view camera. Unusually, the screen for this is located at the base of the windscreen, matched to the height of the wing mirrors.

Jaguar cites travertine stone and "the rich textures of artisan textiles" as influences for the cabin, with select elements chosen to add to the premium feel, such as the brass-inspired finish of the central spine and top of the doors, which feature Jaguar's leaper logo embossed into them.

Jaguar boss Rawdon Glover called the Type 01 "unmistakable from every angle", adding that it "has an interior like no other".

The Type 01 will be shown at Monterey Car Week in California this weekend in a new camouflage wrap. Its unveiling is scheduled for 6 October in New York.
