Nissan has given the X-Trail a rugged makeover in an effort to extend its appeal to “adventure” buyers, while also slimming its powertrain choice to one.

After three years on UK sale, the SUV been given new parking cameras, upgraded interior material quality and the same Google-derived infotainment software which was introduced on the latest Qashqai.

But the most notable addition is the return of the N-Trek trim, last seen in 2024. Slotting into the range between the N-Connecta and Tekna grades, it's marked out by a more rugged-looking front end. 

Nissan said the trim is for those who want to head to “mountain biking trails or skiing trips”. As such, the seats are upholstered in a waterproof material, there are rubber floor mats and the boot liner is reversible. 

The standard X-Trail (pictured below) remains available in Acenta Premium, N-Connecta and Tekna grades. These models gain a subtly altered front grille, lower-set bumpers and new LEDs at the rear. Tekna+ has been discontinued, however.

There are two new paint colour options for the X-Trail, namely Sukomo Blue and Coastal Dune.

The 1.5-litre petrol mild hybrid powertrain is no longer available, meaning the X-Trail is now exclusively offered with Nissan’s ePower series-hybrid system. Two guises are offered: 201bhp with front-wheel drive or 210bhp with four-wheel drive.

Pricing for the updated SUV, which continues to be offered with either five or seven seats, starts at £38,220. The new N-Trek variant starts at £43,310.
