petrol station Decision follows government review as pump prices surge due to the ongoing war in Iran

The British government has frozen a planned fuel duty rise until the end of the year, in a bid to “protect” drivers from rising pump prices.

Fuel duty is currently set at 52.95p per litre, a rate introduced in 2022 in response to high pump prices due to the war in Ukraine. But Chancellor Rachel Reeves announced last November that she would remove that 5p cut over a six-month period starting in September this year.
